Research and Information Services Desk
It is the management philosophy of the University of Detroit Mercy Libraries/IDS that a degreed librarian be on duty at each reference desk all hours the libraries are open. Librarians are educated and trained on reference sources, online searching, teaching research skills, and conducting reference interviews. By asking the right questions of patrons who are doing research, the librarian is better able to help narrow or broaden the research subject, select synonyms for searching, and guide the researcher to the appropriate sources.
The Research and Information Services desk can be seen when you enter either the McNichols Campus Library or the Dental Library. Feel free to stop and ask your question. If you are not physically in the library you may call the librarian at the information desk at:
McNichols Campus Library: 313 993-1071
Dental Library: 313 494-6900
eMail a librarian at edesk@udmercy.edu or by using the eMail a Librarian tool
or, make an appointment with a librarian by calling either a reference desk number above, or sending an e-mail to edesk@udmercy.edu
eMail addresses and phone numbers for all librarians are listed at http://research.udmercy.edu/find/by_discipline/
If you have a question concerning off-campus access to the electronic databases, contact George H. Libbey, Associate Dean for Public Services (libbeygh@udmercy.edu)
