Research + Information Services
The AJCU Virtual Reference Service provides online reference help to the primary clientele of the participating Jesuit institutions, including the University of Detroit Mercy, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This collaborative program allows UDM to extend its standard hours of operation by distributing reference service across multiple libraries and time zones.
It is the management philosophy of the University of Detroit Mercy Libraries/IDS that a degreed librarian be on duty at each Research and Information Service Desk all hours the libraries are open.
Library and Instructional Design Studio services are provided to registered students and faculty who are taking or teaching courses at sites other than on the University campuses. This includes courses at local hospitals, corporate offices, or online courses offered in-state or out-of-state.
In the librarian consultant program, each UDM librarian is assigned to work with a number of academic programs for collection development and evaluation. In turn, the college or school Dean designates a faculty liaison from each academic program to work directly with a librarian.
To make an appointment with a reference librarian for in-depth research assistance, call one of the appropriate numbers or stop at the Reseach and Information Desk.
To request a library instruction session for your class, please complete the form below. Please submit your request as early as possible, as the first month of each academic term is especially busy.
