Subscription Database License Agreements

License Agreements

The University of Detroit Mercy has signed license agreements with vendors to provide indexing, abstracting, and full-text access to electronic databases. Each of these licenses comes with specific user privileges and restrictions. Entries for each subscription database on the portal include a "SHOW/HIDE LICENSE INFORMATION" link; click this link to view explanations of privileges and restrictions. Other databases provide by UDM Libraries are either publicly accessible through the Internet or provided by the Library of Michigan funding from the state legislature.

Every effort is made to select appropriate databases to serve the research needs of the University of Detroit Mercy community. The library system is not liable

  • for inaccurate or incomplete information delivered by the licensing vendor
  • loss or damage to any research or personal work of a student, faculty, or staff member should the vendor delete or discontinue providing specific material(s) in the database(s)
  • for a user's use or acceptance of the quality or completeness of information accessed in the databases
  • for the user's violation of the U.S. Copyright Law which covers the content of all the databases.

  • periodic interruption due to acts of nature or public acts, such as, fire, explosion, accident, strikes, government actions
  • accuracy or completeness of materials delivered by journal, book, or other publishers
  • loss of profits, revenues or failure to realize expected savings, or grade received in academic course due to use of information contained in database(s)
