CIRCULATION SERVICES

Information on the circulation of library materials, and borrowing materials from related institutions.

AJCU PASSPORT

The faculties of the Jesuit colleges and universities now have onsite borrowing privileges at all 28 Jesuit institutions of higher education in the United States. The Jesuit Library Passport is a nationwide reciprocal borrowing program.

Interlibrary Loan Pick-up

Interlibrary Loans (ILLs) may be picked up and paid for at the Circulation Department  Check-Out/Reserves desk in each library. Interlibrary loan books should be returned to the same Check-Out/Reserves desk as where they were picked up.

Books for Sale

Used or gift books that do not support the University curriculum or are duplicate copies of resources already owned may be offered for sale.

Library Cards

To borrow library materials, all faculty, staff, and students must acquire a valid UDM ID card from the Titan Information Center on the first floor of the University Center on the McNichols Campus.

Check-Out Items

All circulating library materials (including all reserve items) may be checked out at the Circulation Department Check-Out/Reserves desk in either library. For UDM students, faculty and staff, your UDM photo ID, obtained from the Titan Information Center, functions as your library card, and is required to check out materials. UDM library cards, without photos, are issued to students in off-campus programs, and may be used in lieu of the photo ID for borrowing materials. The ID card must be validated for the current academic term, or a paid receipt from the bursar's office is required.

Media Pick-up

All media in the McNichols Campus Library is retrieved at the Circulation Department Check-Out desk on the first floor. In the Dental Library media is located on shelving behind the Reference Desk.

Course Reserves

tems reserved for classes are located at the Ciorculation Department Check-Out/Reserves desk in each library. These books or journal articles are placed on reserve by faculty members for specific classes.

MichiCard

The MichiCard program provides onsite access to more than three hundred libraries across the state of Michigan, many in the Detroit Metro region. By using their MichiCard (the regular UDM ID card with a MichiCard sticker affixed to the back) UDM library patrons are eligible to borrow books in this program.

DIGITAL CAMERA LOANS

The Sony Cyber-shot digital camera, is loaned for a period of one week only. Camera loans cannnot be renewed.

Renew Items

Currently enrolled UDM students, faculty, and staff may renew materials. Renewals may be initiated in person, by phone, or online.

Fees

Information on overdue fees, late-charges, and fines for lost or damaged materials.

Returning Items

During library hours all library items must be returned to the Check-Out/Reserves Desk in either campus library. Return slots are clearly marked at each desk.

Holds

Currently enrolled UDM students, faculty and staff may place a hold on materials currently checked out. All hold and recall requests must be made in person at the Check-Out/Reserves desk in either library.

Returning Items After Library Hours

A book return box is located at the entrance to the McNichols Campus Library so that patrons may return materials when the library are closed.
