As far back as 1903 William Henry Gallagher seemed destined to achieve distinction. It was his senior year at the U. of D. Arts and Science Jefferson Campus: he was medalist and president of his class. He graduated with an AB degree in 1903, earned an AM in 1906, then attended the Detroit College of Law.
Presently Mr. Gallagher is a semi-retired lawyer with affiliations in the American, Michigan and Detroit Bar Associations, the Detroit Athletic Club and the Detroit Golf Club. He is the author of “Technique of Cross-Examination.”
William Gallagher has been a relentless campaigner for University of Detroit interests through the school’s maturation processes. He was Alumni Association director when the site for McNichols Campus was purchased and served on varied committees to raise funds for the stadium and memorial buildings. As past president of the Dorais Club and director of the Titan Club, he pumped fresh expansion ideas and zest into an institution with growing pains.
Currently Mr. Gallagher resides with his wife on Covington in Detroit. The Tower Award, 1968, is presented to him in recognition of his long-term efforts to escalate U. of D. interests in the community.
