Maurice Greenia, Jr. Collections
Hudsons Building Art Collection
In 1996 and 1997, Maurice Greenia, Jr. created around 500 chalk drawings all over the abandoned Hudson's Building in downtown Detroit.
This was an important building in Detroit's history. He used a variety of colors of chalk. He went up higher into it, with the aid of a ladder.
The work was a form of performance art wherein he interacted with the people passing by. He got involved with all the people trying to save the building.
It was also an attempt to keep the building from becoming an eyesore by covering it with a complex, cohesive work.
Alas, it was imploded, along with these artworks in 1998. These photographs are nearly all his own.
