Color Drawings Collection thumbnail Color Drawings Collection
Since the mid 1970's, Maurice Greenia, Jr. has executed hundreds of color drawings. Many of these began with an ink drawing that was then colored with color pencils and then re-inked. This strengthens the black of the line which may have changed or been covered by the pencils. Others are colored more subtly.

Index Card Collection thumbnail Index Card Collection
Maurice Greenia, Jr. has made over 6000 drawings on blank index cards. He came to this number by counting how many drawings were in a pile an inch thick, then multiplying this by how many inches of work he had.

Magnet & Pin Collection thumbnail Magnet & Pin Collection
Maurice Greenia, Jr. painted several hundred miniatures on magnets and pins. He'd take discarded political buttons or refrigerator magnets, and coat them with white gesso so the paint would stick better and not flake off.

Since 1977, Mr. Greenia has created hundreds of paintings, most on stretched canvas. He also uses canvas board, canvas paper, blocks of wood, glass, and mirrors. About two-thirds of his paintings are acrylic, and one-third are oil.

The Poetic Express thumbnail The Poetic Express
The Poetic Express emerged from Maurice's earlier photocopied work in April 1985. He was writing a lot of poetry and wanted to share his better poems with the public. The tightly packed pages of typewritten poems soon gave way to illustrations and "drawings on the side." After a continuous run of 22 years, it's still going strong.

In the 1980's Maurice Greenia, Jr. started drawing all over Detroit streets. These works were done with good quality chalk. This led to some art in chalk on underpass walls and the Hudson's Building in downtown Detroit. He documented much of this work though photography.
