Design and Development of Accreditation Component Software for the School of Architecture

Cullen, Allison, and Stephen Judd

The accreditation process is a vital procedure for ensuring that an educational institution meets required standards. In this process, faculty and leaders are expected to collect and hold studentsí work and information about this work to demonstrate that certain criteria are met. This can often become cumbersome because of the effort involved in retaining these physical records for long periods of time. A database component developed for the Joomla! platform will be able to aid in logically collecting, processing, and relating this data, and concisely organizing, managing, and displaying student projects to users and the accreditation board. This paper chronicles the design and development of this software in relation to accreditation for architectural schools.
