Graphic organizers are commonly used in the face-to-face classroom to assist students in organizing content. This study examined students’ opinions of the usefulness of graphic organizers in managing content and constructing meaning in an online high school class. The class, Introduction to Forensic Science, is a resource-rich science elective for high school students offered by Michigan Virtual School. Approximately half the students indicated that the graphic organizers were helpful throughout the course. However, even though 71.3% of students felt note-taking is important, they preferred to develop their own method for taking notes on the material presented throughout the course.
