A series of novel ligands, all incorporating (1R,2R) 1,2-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)-ethylenediamine and an aromatic aldehyde has been produced via Schiff's base condensations, and has been characterized by multi-nuclear NMR and, in select cases, by single crystal diffractometry. The ligands have the potential to be both tri-dentate or tetra-dentate. This, our first findings, as well as indications of the ligands' metal binding abilities, will be presented and discussed.
