Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence as an analytical technique to observe the uptake of lead in pennycress, a preliminary study in secondary products when biodiesel is produced

A series of pennycress seeds were germinated hydroponically in solutions spiked with varying amounts of lead (II) nitrate.  Uptake of the lead into roots and stalks of the plants were examined via EDXRF.  Results and findings, as well as the implications for biodiesel produced from pennycress, are discussed.
