Several ligands were synthesized utilizing a Schiff's base condensation reaction between tris-(2-aminoethylene)-amine and aldehydes such as: 2-furaldehyde and 2-thiophene carboxaldehyde. Reduction of the imine double bond in each ligand can be accomplished using sodium borohydride. Complexes were formed using the target ligands and various metal salts. These complexes were then analyzed to determine the ligands' metal binding characteristics. All analyses were performed using multi-nuclear NMR spectroscopy.
