Ad Fontes: The Digital Library of Classic Protestant Texts (Alexander Street Press)

This comprehensive electronic collection gives researchers immediate, Web-based access to more than 1,200 works from the Reformation and post-Reformation eras. These works include the theological writings of more than 300 Protestant authors, as well as a wide range of confessional documents, biblical commentaries, polemical treatises, and Bible translations. From the followers of Luther and Calvin to the leading figures of the Anabaptist movement, the writers represented in the Digital Library of Classic Protestant Texts can now be studied and compared in ways that will open new avenues of research for the next generation of scholars.


Ad Fontes: The Digital Library of the Catholic Reformation (Alexander Street Press)

When complete, this collection will give scholars access to over 1500 works, all primary source material from the 16th and 17th centuries. Into one extensive, fully searchable collection we have gathered all the key catechisms, scholarly treatises, papal documents, devotional works, and theological volumes that sparked and sustained the reform from within the Catholic Church in the heady years before, during, and after the landmark decrees of the Council of Trent. AgeLine (AARP)

AgeLine abstracts the literature of social gerontology as well as aging-related research from psychology, sociology, social work, economics, public policy, and the health sciences. It covers aging-related issues for professionals in aging services, health, business, law, and mental health. AgeLine also includes selected consumer content.

AgeLine summarizes journal articles, books and chapters, research reports, dissertations, gray literature, and educational videos from many publishers and organizations, including AARP. Links to full text or ordering options are included wherever possible.

AGRICOLA (National Library of Agriculture)

AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its cooperators. Production of these records in electronic form began in 1970, but the database covers materials in all formats, including printed works from the 15th century. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. The AGRICOLA database does not contain full text materials, but thousands of AGRICOLA records are linked to full-text documents online; new links are added daily. AGRICOLA includes the NAL Catalog, containing citations to books, audiovisual materials, serial publications, and other materials in the NAL collection and NAL's Article Citation Database, containing citations, many with abstracts, to journal articles, book chapters, reports, and reprints, selected primarily from the materials found in the NAL Catalog. The database is updated daily.


Aluka

Aluka is a not-for-profit international collaboration of educational and cultural institutions. Its mission is to build a high-quality scholarly resource of materials from and about Africa. We seek to attract contributed collections about Africa from institutions and individuals around the world.

Aluka’s first three content areas are:

Association for Computing Machinery - ACM
The Association for Computing Machinery Digital Library contains every article published by ACM in its journals and magazines, transactions, SIG newsletters, conference proceedings, and in the publications of affiliated organizations. Publication dates run from 1952 to date.


ATLAReligion (OCLC)
Published by the American Theological Library Association, ATLAReligion is a comprehensive database of religious and theological scholarship. Includes a full range of index citations to journal articles, essays in multi-author works, and book reviews from ATLA print indexes. Over 1500 journals are indexed and abstracted; 70 are available in full text. The database contains more than 1,200,000 records.


Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (OCLC)

The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals offers a comprehensive listing of journal articles published worldwide on architecture and design, archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation. There are no full text articles, but many citations contain notes or summaries. Avery indexes not only the international scholarly and popular periodical literature, but also the publications of professional associations, US state and regional periodicals, and the major serial publications on architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia. Expanded coverage includes obituary citations providing an excellent source of biographical data, often the only information available for less-published architects. Coverage is from the 1930s (with selective coverage dating back to the 1860s) to the present. The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals is updated weekly. Currently 2500 journals are indexed, with over 560,000 records in the database.


BasicBIOSIS (OCLC)
This is a subset of BIOSIS Previews, and is designed for introductory biology courses. Provides information on recent developments in virtually every life science discipline. Includes articles from over 370 journals. Although BasicBIOSIS provides only citations to articles, some articles are linked to full text in other FirstSearch databases provided on this site. The database contains over 350,000 records, covering the current five years.


Biography and Genealogy Master Index (Gale)

Biography and Genealogy Master Index enables users to locate biographical entries contained in more than 1,000 volumes and editions of important current and retrospective biographical reference sources. This index contains citations that point to over 15 million biographies on nearly 5 million people, living and deceased, from all time periods, geographical locations, and fields of endeavor.


Blackwell Synergy

TO READ BLACKWELL SYNERGY JOURNALS OFF CAMPUS, PLEASE REGISTER FOR A PERSONAL ACCOUNT. THIS CAN BE DONE FROM THE FIRST SYNERGY SCREEN. REGISTRATION IS NOT NEEDED FOR ON CAMPUS ACCESS. Blackwell Synergy contains the online versions of more than 870 scholarly journals published by Blackwell. As of October, 2006, nearly 885,000 full text articles are included. Full text is available for all journals from at least 2001 (except for new journals) and coverage for some goes back to the 1970s. In addition to searching from the Synergy webpage, Blackwell journal articles indexed in PubMed can be accessed directly from the article citation. Synergy can be accessed directly from any campus computer.

The Dietary Supplements Labels Database offers information about ingredients in more than two thousand selected brands of dietary supplements. It enables users to determine what ingredients are in specific brands and to compare ingredients in different brands. Information is also provided on the health benefits claimed by manufacturers. These claims by manufacturers have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Companies may not market as dietary supplements any products that are intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Ingredients of dietary supplements in this database are linked to other National Library of Medicine databases such as MedlinePlus® and PubMed® to allow users to understand the characteristics of ingredients and view the results of research pertaining to them, including the following characteristics:

ECO (FirstSearch)
Electronic Collections Online (ECO) is a collection of over 5,000 journals that are available online. UDM subscribes to 54 titles from this collection, all published by the Johns Hopkins University Press. Many titles in ECO are also available from other vendors, and are available through UDM and Library of Michigan subscription databases. The entire database can be searched, or searches can be limited to UDM holdings, or to UDM subscribed journals in ECO.


EconLit (CSA)

    EconLit, published by the American Economic Association, provides bibliographic coverage of a wide range of economics-related literature. An expanded version of the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) indexes of journals, books, and dissertations, EconLit covers both economic theory and application.

    Literature covered is of interest to researchers, academics, product managers, advertisers, product development specialists, and public policy professionals. EconLit includes information that is of prime relevance to many industries and research establishments world-wide.

    Over 80% of all current records include abstracts. Also included are fulltext of book reviews published in the Journal of Economic Literature since 1993.

The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational-related literature. Currently the ERIC database contains over 1.2 million records.

Faulkner's Advisory for IT Studies
The FAITS database offers several different report types including technology tutorials, marketplace overviews, product and service selection guides, product and company profiles, and directories. It contains concise reports covering such key technology areas as IT infrastructure, telecom, data networking, wireless communications, security, enterprise systems, the Internet and World Wide Web, as well as technology vendors. FAITS also has links to major online technology and business news resources like Nando Net, The New York Times, Financial Times, NewsBytes, and the BBC, and direct links to online bibliographic resources for topics in business, computer science, education, health sciences, humanities, math and science, and the social sciences.

Humanities E-Books (ACLS)
The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Humanities E-Book Project is a collaboration of ten learned societies, 250 contributing publishers, and librarians at the University of Michigan Scholarly Publishing Office. The result is an online, fully searchable collection of more than 1,500 high-quality books in the humanities, recommended and reviewed by subject specialists and featuring unlimited multi-user access and free, downloadable MARC records. The Project is available 24/7 on- and off-campus through standard web browsers. The ACLS Humanities E-Book Project was initially funded by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The collection is expected to add about 300 new titles per year.
