Borrowing
Who may borrow what from UDM Libraries.
To borrow library materials, all faculty, staff, and students must acquire a valid UDM ID card from the Titan Information Center on the first floor of the University Center on the McNichols Campus.
All circulating library materials (including all reserve items) may be checked out at the Check Out & Customer Service Desk in either library. For UDM students, faculty and staff, your UDM photo ID, obtained from the Titan Information Center, functions as your library card, and is required to check out materials. UDM library cards, without photos, are issued to students in off-campus programs, and may be used in lieu of the photo ID for borrowing materials. The ID card must be validated for the current academic term, or a paid receipt from the bursar's office is required
Currently enrolled UDM students, faculty, and staff may renew materials. Renewals may be initiated in person, by phone, or online.
During library hours all library resources must be returned to the Check Out & Customer Service Desk in either campus library.
Items reserved for classes are located at the Check Out & Customer Service Desk in each library. Books, journal articles, and media are placed on reserve by faculty members for specific classes.
Information on overdue fees, late-charges, and fines for lost or damaged materials. To avoid late charges please renew your items online before they are due. Note that some items are not eligible for renewal.
Currently enrolled UDM students, faculty and staff may place a hold on materials currently checked out. All hold and recall requests must be made in person at the Check Out & Customer Service Desk in either library.
Materials not owned by UDM Libraries may be requested through the traditional Interlibrary Loan service.
Interlibrary Loans may take 2-6 weeks, and may include books, journal articles, conference proceedings, government documents and other print materials.
Interlibrary Loans (ILLs) may be picked up and paid for at the Check Out & Customer Service Desk in each library. Interlibrary loan books should be returned to the same Check Out & Customer Service Desk as where they were picked up.
The MichiCard program provides onsite access to more than three hundred libraries across the state of Michigan, many in the Detroit Metro region. By using the MichiCard (the regular UDM ID card with a MichiCard sticker affixed to the back) UDM library patrons are eligible to borrow books in this program.
All media in the McNichols Campus Library is retrieved at the Check Out & Customer Service Desk on the first floor. In the Dental Library media is located on shelving to the left of the Check Out & Customer Service Desk.
