Plans, implements, directs and monitors Libraries/IDS automation programs. Armstrong ensures provision of the best possible library and media technologies, including networked acquisitions and cataloging functions, to all members of the academic community in support of the University's mission of an excellent student-centered education. Sara develops and maintains liaison with UDM's Information Technology Service, DALNET and other library agencies, institutions and vendors regarding automated library systems in order to maintain and enhance services. She assists the Dean in long-term planning, budget preparation, and in development, implementation and interpretation of Libraries/IDS policies and procedures. Planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the activities, services, and personnel of Cataloging, Acquisition and Archive Collection Management is also Sara's responsibility. Sara earned her BA in Psychology and Sociology at Hastings College, course work, MPA from the University of Nebraska, Omaha and her M.L.S. from Emporia State University, Emporia Kansas. Sara comes to the University of Detroit Mercy from Omaha, Nebraska where she served as Library Director for the College of Saint Mary. Previous positions include Systems Librarian at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, Assistant Systems Librarian at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Librarian for the Nebraska Library Commission. Sara joined the University in 2004.
